Statistics
Statistics helps you understand a pile of numbers with just a few numbers. AI engineers use it to look at data before training and to check if a model is good. In this lesson you learn the average, the spread, the bell curve, percentiles and correlation.
New words
- Mean
- The average: add all the numbers, then divide by how many there are.
- Median
- The middle number when you put the numbers in order.
- Outlier
- A number that is much bigger or smaller than the rest.
- Standard deviation
- A number that shows how far the values are from the mean.
- Percentile
- The share of people who scored the same as you or less.
- Correlation
- A number from -1 to 1 that shows if two things move together.
- Sample
- A small part of a big group, used to learn about the whole group.
